Aboriginal student support

We welcome Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander family members, parents and community members to our school so that we can get to know each other, learn about the local Aboriginal community and develop shared goals and plans for Aboriginal students. We are a school that is located on Dharawal Country and acknowledge the traditional owners of this land.

At Waniora Public School every Aboriginal student will have a personalised learning plan that reflects the students current skills, strengths and future goals.

At Waniora public school we all celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of our students. Each year we have a whole day of activities dedicated to NAIDOC Celebrations. This is one of many community activities we are involved in others include, Reconciliation morning tea, Community of Schools Traditional Games day, Aboriginal Public Speaking contest.

We have an Aboriginal Education Team that aims to promote, monitor and encourage students, parents, staff and community to be active members on the team. Staff are involved in the local AECG and are always making connections with community to enhance students learning.
